In 2012, we partnered with World Vision in support of their WASH project. WASH, standing for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, was started in 2011 as is a five year program slated to end in 2016. Using funds raised from the 4th annual Walk for Water, the program's goal is to achieve 90 percent community access to safe water supply and 86 percent access to improved sanitation in need areas determined by the World Vision organization. The goal is to drill 30 wells, rehabilitate 136 non-functioning wells drilled by other agencies, train 180,000 plus communities on sanitation, and work to maintain current water access points. The program focuses on improving sanitation and hygiene activities by training members of the community, educating them on the effects and large scale benefits when all members conduct proper hygiene and sanitation.
