For the 11th year in a row, The Human Bean drive-thru coffee shop(s) is hosting Coffee for a Cure on Friday, Oct. 21 from 5 a.m. – 10 p.m.  All northern Colorado Human Bean locations will donate 100 percent of sales to local cancer projects. Proceeds from the Larimer County locations will benefit the Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation Oncology Patient and Family Support Fund; proceeds from the Weld County locations will benefit the North Colorado Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund.

“Coffee for a Cure is the largest philanthropic initiative we execute during the year, and last year we raised more than $40,000,” said Frank Sherman, owner of The Human Bean. “With the support of our generous northern Colorado community, our goal is to raise even more funds in 2016 so that we may join forces with local cancer fighters.”

The Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies Oncology Patient and Family Support fund helps women with breast cancer pay for basic needs after diagnosis including insurance premiums, prescriptions, co-pays for office visits/procedures and more.

The North Colorado Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund benefits women who meet a poverty level of 300 percent, which helps women who do not quite qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford high-quality health insurance. The funds will help women cover diagnostic mammograms and biopsies, as well as prescriptions, co-pays, and living expenses for those who are undergoing treatment. 100 percent of funds are kept for women in Greeley and surrounding towns.

To support these organizations to the fullest extent, The Human Bean has added a new component to Coffee for a Cure: drawings for grand prize giveaways featuring gift certificates from local businesses. Tickets for the drawing may be purchased at one for $5 or three for $10 at any Human Bean location.

Each of The Human Bean locations will have nurses and hospital employees as Guest Baristas throughout the day beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., who will talk to customers about the program’s benefits and how the money will be used.
