As a result of funds raised during the Human Bean sponsored 2009 Walk for Water event in Portland, two rural Kenyan communities gained access to clean drinking water. In conjunction with United Nations World Water Day, this annual event brings attention to the plight of millions of women and children throughout the world who are unable to easily access clean and safe drinking water.
The Walk for Water is held along the shores of the Willamette River, it raises money for Portland Global Initiatives, and a nonprofit organization that funds building complete water systems in Africa.
