We buy robusta and Arabica beans from the Karnataka Coffee Estates and Sethuraman Estate. In 2006 we partnered with a Pacific Northwest specialty coffee wholesaler and donated funds to the nearby Opportunity School for the Deaf and Mentally Challenged. These dollars provided work skills training for the attendees.
We also assisted the farmers in developing a coffee bean pulp-natural process to eliminate excess water used during processing. Additionally implementing taste analyses protocols, abled an eco-conscious method of processing which does not sacrifice flavor. By implementing the same soil micronutrient program utilized in the Guatemala project, the farm has experienced improved plant health by analyzing soil and leaf nutrients and determining the best “diet” for maximum yield.
