This October marked our 10th year raising money to combat breast cancer with our Coffee for a Cure event. Raising awareness for the disease typically lasts all month long, but we really wanted to make an impact on those women in our own community who are fighting this cancer. To do just that, we dedicate one full day in October where we donate 100% of sales to our local cancer research facilities.
Thank you for visiting The Human Bean on October 23rd! You helped us raise $40,000 for Poudre Valley Hospital and Banner Health!
Proceeds collected by our Larimer County stands went directly to two flagship hospitals in Northern Colorado: Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies. Our gift to their Patient Navigator Fund helps alleviate some of the financial burdens women with breast cancer must incur, including insurance premiums, co-pays for office visits, and prescriptions.
Our Weld County stands donated 100% of their sales to Banner Health’s North Colorado Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund. The fund assists low-income women with mammograms, diagnostic services and biopsies as they battle breast cancer.
You may have noticed some very special Guest Baristas if you stopped by on October 23rd! Nurses, hospital employees, and breast cancer survivors served as Guest Baristas at each Human Bean stand and were able to speak with our customers as they waited for their drinks. Our hope is to continue spreading knowledge and awareness for the disease so advancements can be made in the medical field.
In 2013, all six Human Bean stands raised an impressive $27,000!
To our amazement, we were able to increase that amount when we surpassed last year’s goals by raising an astounding $36,000 in 2014!
None of this would be possible without our astonishing customers who have continued to be generous supporters of this cause year after year. Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again next year!
