We love our northern Colorado community, and we especially love those who make the Colorado outdoors a safer place to be. We are so grateful for the opportunity to support Larimer County Search and Rescue (LCSAR) and Larimer County Dive Rescue Team (LCDRT) so that these incredible organizations can continue saving lives and providing education on wilderness and water safety.

On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, we welcomed a couple of representatives from LCSAR to our north College location and representatives from LCDRT to our midtown Fort Collins location as Guest Baristas. Throughout the day, we returned 10 percent of all sales from these locations back to the two nonprofits.

The part we found most incredible is that both organizations are run solely by volunteers. Their selflessness is completely awe-inspiring, and it was great to have these volunteers (and a rescue pooch!) as part of the team for a couple of hours so that we could better understand their missions in the community.

LCSAR is a local nonprofit organization that was founded nearly 40 years ago to protect mountain visitors in Colorado. The highly trained individuals who make up this organization respond to emergencies 24/7 to help those who are lost, injured or stranded. In addition to rescuing those in trouble, LCSAR educates the community on the dangers of the wilderness and how to stay safe in nature. Be sure to check out these mountain safety tips before your next mountain adventure.

Similarly, LCDRT is comprised of civilians and emergency response professionals who band together to rescue victims of water-related incidents. When we stopped in to present the donation check, we had the opportunity to learn a bit more about the organization and even receive a tour of their wanting resources. This team works with aged equipment and a determined attitude to serve their community. They give so much of their time to training, meetings, fundraising and actual rescuing; and they credit their loved ones as an equal member in this volunteer position. It is so obvious that they are passionate about what they do, and it was enlightening to get a glimpse into their world.

The Human Bean truly appreciates the life-saving work LCSAR and LCDRT performs, and we look forward to working with them in the future! source tracking
