With warm hands (thank you, Snowy Mocha) and warm hearts (thank you, friends!) we’re looking back on all the goodness 2023 brought to The Human Bean family. We celebrated record-breaking giveback days, had a big anniversary, mixed up new flavors, and had a blast doing it all with you.

We Stirred Up the Specialty Drink Menus
Tasting and testing is a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it! Our baristas whipped up delicious new flavors throughout the year, and we’ve been listening to the feedback since January…these were your favorite new drinks to hit the stands in 2023:
Honey Buttered Rum Oat Milk Latte
Toast the New Year with rich espresso, buttered rum, and honey swirled together and topped with a pillow of steamed oat milk. A coffee-themed cup of warmth with a dairy-free twist.
Mangonada
This real-fruit mango smoothie is blended with spicy-sweet Chamoy, bringing together tart, citrus, and dried-chile flavors. Then for the real kick, we top the ice-cold combo with Tajín — a unique blend of mild peppers, lime and sea salt.
Cinnamon Toast Snowy
Who else remembers the sweet, cinnamon-laced milk left in the bowl after eating a bowl of cinnamon toast cereal? Our Cinnamon Toast Snowy is made with a creamy blend of smooth white chocolate, brown sugar cinnamon, honey, espresso, and steamed milk.
Cherry Blossom Smoothie
We blended premium vanilla in our creamy, thick smoothie, and swirled it with cherry to add a sweet, luscious twist to a timeless classic.
We Celebrated 25 Years of Coffee with a Smile
On June 15, 2023 we turned the big 2-5! A quarter century after pouring our very first cup in Ashland, Oregon, we’re still topping every drink with a signature chocolate-covered espresso bean as a way of saying thank you for stopping by. Now that we’re officially in our mid-twenties, we’re looking back on all those millions of little beans with gratitude — we wouldn’t be here without our incredible family of franchise partners, baristas, customers and friends. Thank you for being on this journey with us!
You Made a BIG Impact on Giveback Days
Our giveback days make every season bright. They’re a time to come together with our communities and give to great causes — while enjoying delicious drinks from The Human Bean. This year you helped us donate more than ever!
Earth Day
We were able to help communities in coffee-growing regions around the world with your support in April. Your drink purchases on Earth Day grew into 66,726 trees planted through Trees for the Future — a program that helps promote sustainable farming practices and advocates for the power of planting trees.
Mochas for Men
June is Men’s Health Month, and each year our customers use their mochas to fight cancer. We were able to raise $20,000 this year to support early testing, education and treatment for men. Each drive-thru location gave $1 for every mocha sold to a local organization of their choice.
Annual Food Drive
On average, food banks around the country are able to stretch $1 into 3 meals for those in need. Your visits during our annual Food Drive giveback day in August helped put 179,184 meals tables in The Human Bean communities. Thank you for helping to fill pantry shelves with your purchases!
Coffee for a Cure
Our annual Coffee for a Cure event in October raised a record-breaking $540,264 this year (over $100,000 more than 2022). Those donations went straight to local groups that provide treatment and care for those battling breast cancer. The grand total for this ongoing giveback day is now $3,635,607. Help us break the $4 million mark next October!
More Kind Human Beans Joined the Family
From coast to coast, The Human Bean drive-thrus popped up in more locations around the country this year. This means more chocolate covered espresso beans, more giveback fundraising, and more smiling faces at over 22 new drive-thrus. The Human Bean stands are owned and operated by independent business owners, meaning you’ll see familiar faces from your community when you stop by. Find a drive-thru near you!
New Looks and ‘Beanefits’
We launched a freshly-redesigned website in the spring (you’re looking at it!), and new app and rewards program in November. Collected ‘beans’ from app users can be redeemed for discounts and free drinks, and the app can be used to pay at the drive-thru and access special offers and promotions, like free birthday drinks. When you download the app and sign up for the first time, we automatically load 250 starter beans to your account!
